The Other Children
Eleven-year-old Charlotte would do anything for her older sister, Harriet. But not long after they move to a new town, Harriet doesn’t show up for her clarinet lesson and can’t be found anywhere. It’s now that Charlotte starts getting horrible visions—Harriet screaming from under the ice, Harriet getting sucked down the drain—that she thinks are proof that her sister has not only been taken from their town, but from their world entirely.
Determined to find out what happened, Charlotte sneaks out in the middle of the night to the fantastical world of Byrne, where the citizens are slowly being crushed by the ruling tyrant, Metod. It’s here she discovers that Harriet wasn’t just kidnapped but has been chosen as one of the Other Children—a series of children whose lives are sucked out of their skins so Metod can live for eternity. Now, with only a few days to do it, Charlotte must find a way to stop Metod and free the people of Byrne before Harriet is not only lost, but dead.
